  • Inter-University softball game (pre-season friendly game)

    CUHK vs POLY U

    9:2

    CU GING!!! Way to go!!

    First time I ever get to represent a University;
First time I ever played a softball game.
(I’ve been quite reluctant to play softball since I was pretty used to its cousin baseball, and I was told that playing both sports causes schitzophrenia. Due to the fact that I already sort of have OCD, an addition of yet another psychiatric disorder on my list would be harmful to my mental health. But I don’t really have a choice now if I wanna play a university sport.)

I was asked to play Third baseman today, which was a completely new position to me (I’m glad I wasnt asked to play catcher which is in a foreign realm), for those who know baseball/softball should be aware of the distinctness of every single baseball position, that one player who’s used to one position may not necessarily be able to play another (yea, everybody‘s unique in baseball, and nobody’s contribution shall be overlooked – that’s why I love this sport). And due to the fact that softball has similar-yet-different rules to baseball, I was completely unsure of where to stand + what to do, but anyway I just played as if it was baseball.

As for batting – It was quite funny how they actually used the traditional numbering way (what’s it called anyway?) for the batting order today,

    i.e.

    Lineup:
    1. Pitcher
    2. Catcher
    3. First Baseman
    4. Second Baseman
    5. Third Baseman
    6. ShortStop
    7. Left Fielder
    8. Center Fielder
    9. Right Fielder

So need I tell u which number I batted? duh. But I suppose they werent taking friendly games seriously. Or else I wouldn’t be allocated such score-threatening spot, both defensively and on the line-up. I walked on a count of 4 balls 0 strike. Let’s hope it wasn’t intentional otherwise I’d say that’s the fattest mistake polyu’s pitcher has made. Not all 5th batter can be intentionally walked you see.

    but…
ARGHHHH!!! I SO WANTED TO HIT!!!!!

Didin’t get to play much as I’m a new kid in town, and

I’ve made NO contributions to the team today……..

Nevermind, so I got onto first base safely anyway. And we won. Who cares about the details at the end of the day

The spirit was pretty good, though not anywhere near the spirit I had for DGS Hockey team (far from that indeed)

but the league season’s gonna start soon

    from today onwards

    I’m officially one part of

     CUHK  PHOENIX
